Nothing too sweet
i'm hoping to be able to put some kind of cute cookie monster character on it. so i need an icing that will work with me!
Suggestions on how to make the character on the cake, or a background for the cake if i buy a cookie monster figure?I need an icing recipe for a birthday cake?
1 large package of instant pudding (any flavor)
1 pint of whipping cream
1/4 cup of milk
Mix the pudding and the whipping cream in a mixer until whipped like whipped cream, add the milk a little at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
To decorate the cake, you can make different colors of icing using food coloring, and try to make the cake like it shows on the picture that usually comes with the cake pan. Put the cookie monster cake on a piece of cardboard covered with aluminum foil (tape the edges to the bottom of the cardboard, so it doesn't come off). Put the cake on the foil and decorate.
Good luck!I need an icing recipe for a birthday cake?
For a wonderful icing try whipped cream flavored and sweetened just the way you like it.
Make sure you refrigerate the iced cake Or use Kool Whip
I use the Jiffy brand from the store, cheap, good and you can use more or less water to work with it as you want.
cream cheese frostings are always good. not too sweet.
Whipped Cream Frosting
1 package instant vanilla pudding
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 cup cold milk
8 ounces Cool Whip -- Thawed
Mix pudding, milk and powdered sugar with mixer for 1 minute until creamy. Fold in cool whip. Spread on cake.

Butter cream frosting is so easy to make, easy to work with and it's not too sweet, everyone usually likes it...
3 Cups Powdered Sugar
1/3 cup softened butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
about 2 Tbsp milk
Mix sugar %26amp; butter until creamy; add vanilla %26amp; milk. Continue to beat until consistancy is easily spreadable.
When cake is cooled, frost completely. If you want to decorate, let frosting ';set';, or harden a little bit; then take a paper towel, cover the frosted cake completely, and gently smooth over top of papertowel with spatula.
This smooths out the frosting, resembling the fondant look, but tastes much better. You can paint or decorate as you like! There are so many options to choose from at any craft store, including Cookie Monster. You could use the small chocolate cookies from those 100 calorie snack packs to put on top with your Cookie Monster figurine....??? Gum drops are fun to use, and colorful--like Sesame Street.
Check out www.inspired-by-chocolate-and-cakes.com look under the fillings and frostings section. They have a chocolate icing that you just need a bowl and spoon for or try the quick and easy chocolate frosting recipe. Both are great for childrens cakes. May be you could colour some coconut to look like grass to have your cookie monster on or have him sitting in a pile of small cookies!
Take some butter and whip it in with milk and any extract flavorings that you want. Once the mixture is creamy and has the flavoring you want (it doesn't have to have a flavoring though) add about 2 cups of powdered sugar. Moxture should still be whipped and this consistancy should be good for covering the cake but I dont reccomend it for the cookie monster with it. To change the consistancy simply keep adding powdered sugar- this recipe will need a lot of powdered suger if u want a stiff frosting so be prepared with a ton of sugar.
