1/2 c. butter


1 c. firmly packed brown sugar


1/4 c. whipping cream


2 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar


1 tsp. vanilla extract





Melt butter in a heavy saucepan. Add brown sugar; cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves. (Do not boil). Remove from heat. Stir in whipping cream. Add powdered sugar and vanilla; beat at high speed of an electric mixer until smooth. Yield: enough frosting for one 10-inch cake.What is the recipe to cake frosting?
What kind of frosting are you trying to make?





A basic butter cream is:


1 cup of crisco (yes - the brand name works best - tried them all)


1 Tsp vanilla


1Tbsp very cold water





Cream this together until light and fluffy - use a stand not hand mixer. You will burn out the motor on a hand mixer. Add sifted confectioners sugar (use 10X not 4X) a cup at a time (you will probably use 4-5 cups of sugar (buy the 2lb bag) until it is the consistency that you want.
