What is the best recipe for red velvet cake?

I want to make the BEST cake ever! Accepting all suggestions...homemade...by the box...etc.What is the best recipe for red velvet cake?
EASY RED VELVET CAKE





1 box butter recipe cake mix (I use Duncan Hines)


3 eggs


2/3 c. Crisco


2 oz. red food color


5 tbsp. cocoa





CREAM CHEESE ICING:





1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese


1 box 4X sugar


1 stick butter


1 tsp. vanilla


1 c. chopped nuts





Mix all ingredients in large bowl for 2 minutes at medium speed. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 or 35 minutes. Makes 3 (8';) layers or 1 (13';x9';x2';) pan.





ICING: Combine cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy. Stir 1 cup finely chopped pecans into frosting. Makes 3 cups frosting.What is the best recipe for red velvet cake?
This isn't just the best recipe for red velvet cake, but the ONLY recipe for red velvet cake. If you don't follow *this* recipe, you can end up with something *similar* to red velvet cake, but not the real mccoy!








1/2 cup shortening


1 cup buttermilk


2 eggs


2 1/2 cups flour


1 tsp. vanilla


1 1/2 cups sugar


1 tsp. vinegar


1 tsp. salt


2 oz. red food coloring


2 tsp. cocoa


1 tsp. soda





Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs. Make paste of food coloring and cocoa. Combine the two mixtures then add buttermilk alternately with combined flour and salt to this mixture. Add vanilla, soda and vinegar. Bake for 30 minutes in two 9 inch pans at 350 degrees.





Icing:


5 Tbsp. flour


1 cup sweet milk


1 cup butter


1 cup sugar


1 tsp. vanilla


Cook flour and milk until thick; cool. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy and combine with cooled flour mixture. Add vanilla. Do not beat too long before spreading over cake.

1/2 c. shortening


1 1/2 c. sugar


2 eggs


2 tbsp. cocoa


2 oz. red food coloring


1 tsp. salt


1 tsp. vanilla


1 c. buttermilk


2 1/2 c. cake flour


1 1/2 tsp. baking soda


1 tbsp. vinegar





Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Make a paste of the cocoa and red food coloring and add it to the shortening mixture. Mix together the salt, vanilla, buttermilk and vinegar; set aside. Combine the cake flour and baking soda and set aside.


Mix the buttermilk mixture and the cake flour mixture alternately to the shortening mixture by gently folding them into the batter. Do Not Overbeat! Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool and ice with Red Velvet Frosting.








RED VELVET FROSTING:





5 tbsp. flour


1 c. milk


1 c. butter


1 c. sugar


1 tbsp. vanilla





Cook the flour and milk, stirring constantly, until of mashed potato consistency - Cool Thoroughly! Mix the butter, sugar and vanilla and set aside.


Add the thoroughly - cooled flour mixture to the butter mixture, beating on high setting on mixer, until sugar is dissolved. (Taste to make sure sugar is dissolved.)
I have a great recipe for Red Velvet Cake. Here it is:





1 c. Wesson oil


1%26amp;1/2 c. sugar


1 bottle of red cake coloring


2 eggs


1 tsp. cocoa


2 c. self-rising flour


1 c. buttermilk


1 tsp. vanilla





Cream oil, sugar and red cake coloring together. Add 2 eggs. Beat together. Add cocoa, flour and buttermilk to creamed mixure. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Grease pans and pour mixture into pans. Bake at 350 degrees 28-30 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Remove and cool.





Icing:





1/4 c. flour


1 c. milk


1/2 c. Wesson oil


1 c. sugar


1 c. pecans


1/4 tsp. calt


1 c. coconut





While cake is cooling, prepare icing. Over low heat, cook flour with milk. This will make a thick paste. Let cool and add wesson oil, sugar, pecans, salt and coconut. Frost cake and serve.
